Obverse: Gorgoneion facing with flowing hair, in the style of Helios.

Reverse: Head of Athena right, wearing winged and crested Attic helmet.

The gorgoneion head was a common motif placed on coins, shields, walls, etc. to mimic how Athena in mythology placed Medusa's disembodied head on her shield.
