A beautiful faience bead with protective inscriptions to Amun Ra and Bes.
On one side, the inscriptions start with the solar barge, which refers to the sun god Amun Ra, and then underneath it offerings. This bead thus calls for the protection of the sun god Amun Ra with blessings. Scarabs and beads with these blessings were popular during the late New Kingdom and the Third Intermediate Period (1295-664 B.C.) .
On the other side we see the figure of the god Bes. He was believed to be the deity of music, merriment, childbirth. As a result, the wearer of this bead was likely either a pregnant mother or young child, invoking the protection of the god.
